Raves are typically popular gatherings that give people a chance to dance to high-tempo music while connecting with local communities. However, they typically draw large crowds rather than a single participant. Recently in San Diego, California, a man was caught on camera reportedly dancing alone for a staggering 90 minutes. The video is making the rounds online right now.
The clip, shared on Reddit’s r/SanDiego, shows a solitary man in a checkered flannel shirt and blue jeans dancing enthusiastically in the middle of Famosa Slough near Interstate 8 in San Diego. Accompanying the footage is some context from the OP, which reads as follows: “Some dude’s personal rave yesterday at the slough, next to I-8 and across from Sea World. This went on for an hour and a half.“
The video appears to have been filmed by a bystander stood on a balcony overseeing the man dancing in the slough, and you can see vehicles passing on the interstate in the distance behind the solitary raver. With over 125 comments, 1.9k upvotes, and with the footage continuing to circulate online, it’s safe to say that the video is on its way to viral status.
Commenters’ reactions range from supportive to astonished, with many sharing their thoughts on the clip. One netizen chimed in with, “Homeboy just dancing his heart out in the rain” while another added, “Let bro cook 🔥” A third shared a personal story that seemed fitting, writing, “I worked for a couple of decades at Food 4 Less in El Cajon, at night, and years ago, we would get this woman who randomly showed up in the middle of the night, with headphones and roller skates, skate dancing her heart out in our parking lot, it was strange and beautiful and ethereal to see, just in her own world, with music, skating her heart out in our lot, for herself, and nobody else. The scene with Hal skate dancing, in Malcolm in the Middle, has always reminded me of her.“
Ultimately, the solo dancer appears to be having the time of his life, putting an unconventional spin on the idea of raving. It’s a reminder that sometimes all you need is a beat, a pair of dance shoes, and a little enthusiasm, and the vibe does the rest.
