After being out and about for two days, a Virginia man came home to quite an unexpected surprise in his backyard: two ICE coolers. Going by Smittyguy11 on Reddit, the homeowner shared a photo of the mysterious machinery on r/mildlyinfuriating. He claims to have contacted the company about the coolers, and a rep told him the two are “retired units.” “So now I have to pay someone to evacuate the freon and haul them off to be recycled or trashed,” Smittyguy11 sighed.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the ICE coolers weigh around 500 lb each, and OP says he lacks any sort of equipment to move or lift them himself. As to how the machines got there, Smittyguy11 explained that the ICE company was “literally given my address for drop-off and told that no one would be home, stick them in the backyard.” Now, an actual customer has allegedly called the company to ask where his ICE machines are.
“The crazy thing is his address is nothing close to mine, and the name of his landscaping business is very unique, so I was able to locate him. How they got my address I’ll probably never know,” Smittyguy11 wrote.
Reddit Urges the Virginia Homeowner to Sell the ICE machines on Facebook
Thousands of Redditors believe this could be a golden opportunity for OP to earn some money by selling the machines on Facebook’s Marketplace. “Someone would take them in a heartbeat,” remarked a commenter.
While Smittyguy11 has not responded to whether he would be selling the two coolers online, he has revealed the contents of the machines. “No bodies, no drugs, no ICE agents inside. Just empty,” OP wrote. Some people joked that he could use the coolers as “free post-apocalyptic stash boxes,” though he seems more interested in getting them off his lawn.
According to a commenter, the ICE company will eventually “clean it up,” though when that has yet to be revealed by OP. In the meantime, he has two free storage containers in his backyard, though their aesthetic might leave much to be desired, sitting out on the grass like that.
