Warframe has just received the 2nd part of its Warframe 1999 expansion, called Techrot Encore, and with it comes new gameplay mechanics, specifically the Technocyte Coda nemesis enemies. Well, it’s not fundamentally new; they’re tweaked Kuva Liches and Tenet Sisters, except their corresponding Warframe Antivirus and Potency Mods can get confusing, as is tradition. So allow us to light your way in the dark.
What are Antivirus Mods & Potency Mods in Warframe
Antivirus Mods are basically Requiem Mods but for the Technocyte Coda enemies. Like Requiem Mods, you equip them in your Parazon dagger and then Mercy Kill the Technocyte Coda enemies with it. Likewise, Antivirus Mods have different types, and certain combinations are needed to take down Technocyte Coda enemies. Antivirus Mods are required.
Meanwhile, Potency Mods are also mods you equip in your Parazon slot (they also take up the top slots), but their purpose is to accelerate the Technocyte Coda hunting process. Potency Mods boost the Disinfection rate and have a secondary effect that can give you rewards such as Affinity (exp) or currencies. The big difference is that Potency Mods are not required.
Using both is key to a smooth Technocyte Coda hunt, and naturally, you’d want to farm or get all variants of Warframe Antivirus Mods & Potency Mods. Both mod types also have the same limitation as Requiem Mods– you can only use them for three Mercy Kills, and then they disappear, and you have to farm them again.
How to Farm Warframe Antivirus & Potency Mods
It’s worth noting that Antivirus & Potency Mods in Warframe are rewarded randomly, so target-farming specific variants might not go exactly the way you intend. For the record, here’s where you can farm them:
- For Antivirus Mods – Antivirus Bounty from the Hex (Hollvania Mall)
- For Potency Mods – Kill Techrot enemies in any 1999 mission (preferably Steel Path)
Again, they’re rewarded randomly. However, you can trade Antivirus Mods with other players, so it’s good to have excess to swap with others. This is usually the best way to get the Antivirus Mod you need.
