To get Animal Companions in Wartales, you must buy an animal, recruit it in prison, or capture it in the wild. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages. So each player can choose the most convenient way for them.

How to Buy Animal Companion

It is the easiest way to get a new Companion. You just need to find a place to buy an Animal, such as Plateau Stables, and spend some money. But, while this is the easiest way, it can also sometimes be very expensive.

How to Recruit Animal Companion

The second way to get an Animal Companion is also quite simple. Somehow, many dangerous beasts end up in prisons. And this is to your advantage since you can recruit Animals such as Bears in these prisons. Of course, you will also have to spend money on this, but Animal Companions in Wartales is worth it.

How to Capture Animal Companion

It is our favorite way. During your travels, you will encounter different Animals, and by fulfilling a few conditions, you can capture the Animal to make it your Companion.

  • First of all, you must have a rope with you. It can be crafted from 2 Hemp.
  • Then you must send one Companion to fight the Animal and reduce its health to at least 25% or less.
  • Your second Companion must go around the Animal and knock it out from behind.

If you do everything right, you will see a Captured notification. However, there is a chance that a Missed notification will appear, which means the Animal can still fight. You can increase your chances of catching an Animal Companion by using a special perk. On the path of Wisdom and Mysticism, you must unlock the Poachers perk, which increases the chance of successfully capturing an Animal by 50%.
