Six years after being granted clemency, Washington man Percy Levy returned to his old ways and now faces possible imprisonment. The 54-year-old was granted Clemency in 2019 by former Washington State Governor Jay Inslee. However, on  March 14, Levy was arrested on 75th Street Southeast in Everett. The arrest comes after 16 months of investigation by the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force.

NEW: Former WA Gov. Jay Inslee is the gift that keeps on giving. Before leaving office, he granted clemency to convicted criminal Percy Levy.

Detectives found at his residence on the 600 block of 93rd Street Southeast large amounts of drugs. 2,818 grams of powder cocaine, 14.7 grams of rock cocaine, and 556 grams of fentanyl were discovered. Additionally, a handgun, packaging material, and a digital scale were found at his house, indicating intent to distribute.

Following his arrest, Levy has been charged with 11 class B felonies. Each offense carries a possible penalty of 10 years and up to $20,000 in fines. Among the charges were eight counts of possession of controlled substances with an attempt to sell, the Lynnwood Times reports.

Per the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, two milligrams of fentanyl is a deadly dose for an average individual. Hence, the substances found in Levy’s possession were sufficient to kill about 278,000 people.

This is not the first time the Washington native has been taken into custody for substance possession. In 2002, Levy was detained for drug house robbery, spent 17 years behind bars, and was pardoned in 2019.

The formerly incarcerated citizen owns Redemption Autos, a car dealership in Everett, which describes Levy as a “symbol of personal redemption” on its website. He was also a community outreach specialist for the Washington Defender Association.

Unsurprisingly, the news of Levy’s arrest ignited reactions from Redditors. Soon enough, tons of comments flowed in criticizing the government.

“According to Democrats…..Everybody deserves a 17th chance,” a Redditor commented.

“Nothing is a crime in the eyes of Democrats,” wrote one commenter, and another replied, “Except for telling the truth.” A netizen opined that governors who grant pardons should be held accountable.

The netizen wrote, “We are allowing clemency to be mismanaged. When a politician grants clemency or a pardon, they are vouching for that convict. They bear responsibility for their actions going forward.”

Another comment criticizing the government read, “Blue state govs. Continue to rein terror on America with their Sanctuary cities, Clemencies and soft on drugs and crime policies.”

A sixth comment read, “Just a Democrat doing what Democrats do, helping out the criminals in our society.”
