Washington, D.C. residents and others have gathered today for a rally for health care and science funding. The event is a direct response to the Trump administration’s attacks against public welfare programs, colleges, and research funding. That’s a good enough reason to get a crowd of people out in the streets. The ongoing peaceful gathering has featured a variety of speakers, including healthcare professionals and people with disabilities.

A variety of speakers took the mic at the D.C. rally for health care, testifying to the importance of health care for everyone. Whether someone is a medical professional, lives with a disability, or simply values a society that cares for all of its people, this is one of the most important issues in the U.S. A sign on the podium behind the speakers summarized a core message for many,

Our Health Care Is Not For Sale!

There’s been a spotlight on America’s discriminatory and exploitative healthcare system for a long time. The assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson only brightened it. The public response to that event made one thing obvious. Many people are done being bullied by greedy insurance companies and the capitalist lawmakers that back them.
