Procrastination is an enemy for a lot of people, including me, and we end up putting a lot of stuff on hold. It can be hard to convince ourselves to start doing what we have to do, but never do. A Washington woman wanted to change that. She started a TikTok series called “How Long Does It Actually Take” where she does stuff she has been procrastinating for a long time. She states the time she has been procrastinating and the total time it took her to get things done.

The series, which currently has four episodes, has drawn a lot of attention from TikTok users. The first video posted by the Washington woman shows her trying to put on the protective coat on top of a dresser she bought before. She spray-painted it black but never got to put on the protective coat. The Washington woman then shares how she has been procrastinating for two years. In the video, she documents the whole process as she films herself finally doing what she has been putting off.

Once she gets the job done, the Washington woman shares how she only spent one hour and 4 minutes working. In comparison to the time she spent procrastinating, this shows how things won’t take a lot of time as one might imagine. People then had different reactions regarding the first video in the series, but many of them loved it. One TikTok user wrote, “youre [sic] onto something here. Keep this series going, I love it.” Another person wrote “Girl!!!!! This series is speaking to me on a deeper level!!”

The second episode of the series that was posted by the Washington woman shows her trying to clean the bottom of her pantry. This time, she has been procrastinating for over a year. It is still a long time though. Watching the video, it is kind of satisfying to see her organizing and cleaning everything. She ends up sharing how the entire process took her 27 minutes. The positive comments didn’t stop, but they actually became more. One user wrote, “Oh, good. A new show I will watch religiously.”

More Episodes Shared by the Washington Woman

The success of the first two episodes in the series along with people encouraging her to keep going, made the Washington woman post another episode. This time, her goal was to do the dishes she had been putting off, clean the dishwater filter, and organize everything once done. You guessed right; this, too, didn’t take a long time. She ended up getting everything done in 26 minutes. She has been procrastinating forever because she never cleaned the filter.

The last and most recent segment was where the Washington woman finally cleans and reorganizes her garage shelves. She has never cleaned them, so once again, she has been procrastinating forever. After cleaning and organizing everything, she announced that the whole thing took one hour and eight minutes.

While a lot of TikTok users loved the series, some found the funny side to it. One user wrote, “You’re inspiring me to do mine. Next week. Probably.” While another one wrote “Everyone be quiet. My show is on.” A lot of people shared how they were encouraged by the Washington woman to get stuff done that they had been procrastinating forever. So, while waiting for a new video, maybe I will see how long does it actually takes to organize my wardrobe.
