In an interview with gamingbolt.com, Watch Dogs 2 Game Director Danny Belanger has revealed some new details about the game’s multiplayer and features that won’t be returning from the original.
Belanger hopes Watch Dogs will be a more story and setting driven game, something not easy to achieve with most open-world games. Additionally, map exploration will be focused heavily. “We are offering more city exploration. So as you’re walking around the city, you’ll open Nethack and you’ll discover operations and secrets that will unlock side quests if you want,” said Belanger. The staple ‘towers’ mechanic in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise which has players climb tall buildings to reveal another portion of the map will not be featured in Watch Dogs 2.
Belanger also spoke about the new multiplayer mode, a new feature to the franchise. “we’re bringing seamless co-op; we’re going to have seamless hacking so someone can come in your game and hack,” he described. The hopefully seamless transition into co-op can be done with the press of a single button “Now you’re part of DedSec, so you’re part of a hacker group, so we wanted those hackers to work together. So you can be in your single player game but there’s a DedSec ally that’s walking around the street, and if you want you can just go and press a button and go in co-op. We created operations meant for co-op because they’re challenging,”
Watch Dogs 2 is planned for a November 15 release date for PS4, XBox and PC.
