Wayne Brady is going from dancing on DWTS to becoming the host of the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs). This year’s music award ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 20 at 5 p.m. PT.
In the announcement on Instagram (seen below), season 31 contestant of DWTS Wayne Brady teased what to expect with him taking on these duties for the award show. He teased “improvisation” and “comedy.” On the music side of things, he hinted at “singing,” “a big opening number,” and plenty of performances from huge stars.
The 50th ceremony for the award show will see nominations for the biggest artists. Bad Bunny leads with the most nominations, with eight categories that he is nominated. Beyonce and Taylor Swift are behind him for the most nominations. Other nominees include Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ghost, Machine Gun Kelly, Imagine Dragons, and BTS.

In this season of DWTS, Wayne Brady is partnered with Witney Carson have been some of the leading dancers as they chart high up on the leaderboard. Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas, and Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy have also been performing well this latest season. Meanwhile, some people in the crew and other contestants have contracted COVID-19. It has rumbled the first outing on Disney+, but so far sailing has smoothed out as people manage to avoid getting sick.
Hosting duties for DWTS star Wayne Brady is nothing new for him. He has led shows like Let’s Make a Deal, Game of Talents, and co-hosting The Talk. His tenure on Let’s Make a Deal led him to receiving multiple Daytime Emmy nominations.
Dancing with the Stars can be caught on Disney+ on Monday at 8 p.m. ET. The season has three more episodes, leading to it crowning the duo winners on November 7.
