If we had to talk about some gaming world myths that may or may not come true, the Nintendo Switch 2 would be on top of them. Despite many leaks, rumors, and things people have heard in the grapevine, there’s still no official announcement. However, the latest Nintendo Direct put everyone’s hopes up due to one specific game. If you remember, back in the Wii U era, Breath of the Wild was the bridge between that console and the Nintendo Switch. Now, one particular game looks like the clear contender for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch title.
If I had to bet all my money on one game that will launch alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, it would be Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Before I move on, this is all speculation. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t look at the facts. Nintendo always launches a huge game alongside its consoles; take Breath of the Wild, for example. With the Nintendo Switch’s lifecycle nearing its end, it wouldn’t be too crazy to believe Samus would lead us to the next generation. And if that is the case, it’ll be a hit both critically and commercially.
I know a few non-believers might think we’re just high on “hopium” with this, but it makes perfect sense. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was announced during E3 2017, which at that time was the biggest gaming event. Seven years later, we finally have the official title and a very big release window, which is another clue. With Nintendo’s next console on the horizon and Metroid Prime 4 releasing sometime in 2025, both launching together would make perfect sense and will actually be a great way to bid farewell to the Nintendo Switch.
On the other hand, people might think the next Pokemon Legends game could be the Nintendo Switch 2 launch title, but I wouldn’t bet on that too much. While Pokemon has had a rough time, Metroid hasn’t, and today’s excitement is the perfect piece of evidence. Nintendo has everything to ride this wave and send off its latest console with a bang while giving us a new one accompanied by everyone’s favorite bounty hunter.
