Former daytime talk show television host Wendy Williams‘ health continues to decline amid her battle with dementia. Wendy’s fans were shocked to learn that the health of famous entertainment personalities has drastically changed.
New court documents obtained by The Sun reveal Wendy Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, and her legal team sadly state that Wendy “has been afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”
The recent decline in health came to light amid an ongoing legal battle over the Lifetime series Where is Wendy Williams? The documentary shows the former TV host dealing with multiple issues, including alcoholism, addiction, financial problems as well as health struggles brought on by early-onset dementia.
Wendy Williams has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. This is the same disease that actor Bruce Willis was also diagnosed in 2023. Unfortunately for Wendy, her story is somewhat more complicated but no less tragic than that of Bruce Willis.
Willis remains under 24-hour care at home with his family. However, Williams’s traumas are seemingly more challenging and have brought about a series of legal suits. Not to mention numerous issues among her family members.
In 2019, during a rehab stay in Florida, Wendy Williams first received the shocking diagnosis. Specialists told her that she was suffering from alcohol-related brain damage. Following a brain scan, Wendy’s now ex, Kevin Hunter Sr, and son, Kevin Hunter Jr., met with the specialist. They were given the heartwrenching news that Wendy’s alcohol abuse had done permanent damage to her brain.”
From then on, it has been a downhill battle for Williams. Unfortunately, her struggles are not only health-related but also include troubles in her relationships and businesses.
Wendy Williams Guardian Continues To Advocate For TV Host
The previous 2022 filing states, “In January 2022, after becoming aware of a pattern of disturbing events concerning [Wendy’s] welfare and finances. Wells Fargo took the highly unusual step of initiating a guardianship proceeding on its own initiative in the Supreme Court of New York, New York County (the ‘Guardianship Proceeding’), to seek the court appointment of an independent guardian for [Wendy’s] financial affairs.”
Wendy Williams’ guardian, 60, claims that she is “an acclaimed entertainer who, tragically, has been afflicted by early-onset dementia. As a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”
The legal team also alleges Wendy Williams has been exploited. They state that she did not have the ability to consent to the series due to her health ailments. According to the outlet, the new filing asked for information about her “health, familial relationships, and finances” to be redacted in an effort to privacy.
An amended complaint was filed on September 16, 2024, and served on all defendants. In October, the suit was moved to federal court. Since then, several defendants have filed countersuits against Williams’ guardian.
“As Wendy’s fans are aware, in the past she has been open with the public about her medical struggles with Graves’ Disease and Lymphedema as well as other significant challenges related to her health,” her team stated.
The recent update crushed her large and loyal fanbase. Fans continue to show their love and support. They hope to see Wendy Williams continue to get the care she requires and the justice she deserves.
