Nowadays, video game genre mash-ups aren’t new. We get some wacky combinations that are an immediate hit, regardless of how small or big the game is. The latest to land on my radar is Weyrdlets, which just got a release date for summer. Many people call it Animal Crossing meets Nintendogs, and that’s something I can get behind. However, Weyrdlets is more than just a game. It is a desktop virtual pet game that allows you to take care of your virtual pets while they organize your schedule, set up streams, and do many more productive things.
If you ever told me I could have a cute pet as a virtual assistant living on my desktop, I wouldn’t have believed you. But now, Weyrdlets is ready to make that come true when its July 23 release date arrives. In this game, two main factors come into play. First, the pet-caretaking part. You can play with them, feed them, and build a place for them to roam around. There are even options to customize them with accessories and other fun items. The second part is the virtual assistant system. With the game open, your pet will help with things like a to-do list and even a self-reflection log.
Even those with a lot of work can leave their Weyrdlet idle and still earn rewards, such as coins you can use to buy customization options for your pets. Frankly, this is a terrific idea, especially for those of us who work at home. After a while, it can get lonely, but having a virtual pet with you is great. Plus, for those who get distracted by the first video they see online, having a cute friend to keep them on track is a terrific idea. And if that wasn’t enough, this pet sim will be free to play for everyone, so be sure to check the demo and wishlist if you want a cute companion to help you with your daily tasks.
Weyrdlets will be available for PC on July 23, 2024.
