Ah, the infamous ‘like.’ Having originated from Vimeo back in 2005, it’s since been a public display of whether the internet resonates with someone’s content or not. No matter where you go, it seems that every news outlet, social media site, and instant messaging application has a feature that allows you to like content. In Death Stranding 2, however, likes aren’t for public recognition or for getting more popular. So, what are likes, and what are they used for within Death Stranding 2?

For every SSS Sam earns, every sign from other porters he passes through, and every mission experience he accepts, there is an opportunity to gain likes. When you go through either of these, you’ll be able to tap on your PS5 touchpad repeatedly until the timer that appears slides all the way down. Every time you do this, you’re earning points toward your overall porter score.

This score determines what items Sam can fabricate and the type of structures he’ll be able to come across by other porters. For example, before you are able to curate a Timefall shelter, you won’t see any on the map built by other porters. Once you do, however, it would be in your best interest to spam the touchpad and give those porters as many likes as you possibly can.

In order to earn additional likes, you can deliver lost cargo that Sam finds along his journey, as well as ensure the cargo is delivered in pristine condition. Of course, even if the cargo takes as few spills, you can usually fix it up with a bit of Container Repair Spray. You will also earn additional likes if you defeat BTs or MULEs while delivering cargo and whenever other porters make use of the structures you’ve built.
