‘What Beautiful Juxtaposition’: Massachusetts Worker Says Boss Pulled Up in Corvette Towing Jet Ski After Saying Overtime Was Too Expensive

Was he trying to show off?

While rich people are ultimately just normal people, it can sometimes be hard to relate to them as such, with one’s Massachusetts employer being a prime example. Reddit user uhhhgreeno shared quite the telling photo after allegedly being told overtime was “too expensive” for staff. In their post on r/mildlyinfuriating, Greeno showed a Corvette towing a jet ski, saying it was their executive manager showing up at work.

Two weeks after we were told the company no longer wants us working overtime because it’s becoming too expensive, this is how the executive manager showed up today

“Don’t think I’ve ever seen a Corvette towing anything, nevermind a jetski. What beautiful juxtaposition,” Greeno chuckled in a tone of irony. And Reddit couldn’t agree more, with countless people commenting on how much these execs of this company must be ‘hurting.’

No Redditors Were Supportive of the Manager’s Seemingly Pompous Behavior

“Great for company morale,” sarcastically remarked a Redditor, to which OP responded, “This bro. I get it’s not a $200k+ car and a big expensive boat lol, but it’s the principle nonetheless.” Another person sneeringly added that the company might “actually be hurting.” The commenter wrote, “I mean he’s towing his wave runner with his Corvette and not a $100,000 4X4 with a 6” lift that’s never seen dirt. Times are tough. Lol.”

Over 5k people wished misfortune on the manager by upvoting the comment: “Just pray that this guy is going to try to use the corvette at the boat launch and hope someone films it.” One person says this boss actually has the “kind of efficiency” the company is looking for. “You can see he’s trying to save money too, instead of owning a truck and a sports car, he just combined the two,” they joked.

While undoubtedly frustrated, Greeno joined in the fun, poking fun at the situation rather than getting angry at their company’s alleged decision or his boss’s wealth. “This is why we poop on company time,” they wrote in a comment. Jokingly, they added that “[the] owner is looking for another yacht,” after someone claimed the manager’s apparent financial situation is why they need to work so hard for their company.

Despite the Redditors having never met or personally known this executive manager in Massachusetts, plenty of them already feel like they have a good idea of what kind of person he is. After all, many people already hold disdain for rich people, and seemingly flaunting one’s status isn’t going to help this animosity.
