Love Is Blind season 2 stars Nick Thompson and Danielle Ruhl were the first couple to get engaged during the season, and fans of the franchise want an update on their relationship. One predominant trait of Love Is Blind is the ease at which couples often switch partners due to a lack of chemistry or attraction towards another cast. However, Danielle and Nick moved through those phases with ease, as the duo only had eyes for each other from the moment they met in the pod till they saw each other.
However, as their romance deepened and things became serious between the pair, cracks started appearing in their almost-perfect relationship. First, Danielle got jealous when Nick left her in their Mexico hotel to attend a mixer event with the rest of the cast, resulting in an argument between them. Second, the couple argued constantly during their wedding preparations, including how Danielle’s choice of a Rock band drum set and inflatable guitar might not fit with their living room decor. Still, despite all these, the couple made it to the altar, and fans believed marriage might ease all the tension between them.
Danielle and Nick Have Broken Up
Despite the huge hope placed on Danielle and Nick to stay together and break the trend of Love Is Blind not creating long-lasting relationships, the couple announced their divorce in August 2022, a year after tying the knot. The news shocked fans of the pair who had earlier watched the couple gush about their relationship and the possibility of adding kids to expand their family. Danielle and Nick’s divorce also came after they spoke to People about their experience with couples counseling, with Nick noting:
“We’re in couples counseling, and we have been now, for almost the entire time since we’ve finished [the show]. We’ve put frameworks in place for communication. We’ve had to force ourselves through some conversations [about] what we actually need at that moment and [have] worked on being able to articulate that.“
After the news broke, Danielle and Nick released separate statements to address their divorce. Nick explained he was heartbroken about the separation but knew in his mind he did everything to make things work. Meanwhile, in her statement, Danielle wrote:
“It has taken some time to publicly speak about my marriage ending, as emotions are still raw. I’ll always care about Nick and appreciate our time together. As a wise woman said — choose yourself.”
Danielle and Nick Threw Blames After Divorce
After their divorce, Nick and Danielle both separately acknowledged there was not a particular reason why their marriage ended. Danielle noted that people expected a big story to come out of their separation, but they were just two people who decided to go their separate ways. Meanwhile, Nick, in an interview with Us Weekly, disclosed he and Danielle were not on speaking terms after their divorce saying:
“For my own mental health and healing, I had to create a boundary with her that I’m not engaging anymore.”
After his comments in the interview, Danielle accused Nick of refusing to take any “accountability” for the end of their marriage. She claimed her ex-husband laid the blame at her feet in every interview and noted he did the same throughout their marriage. However, Nick responded in an exclusive statement with People declaring:
“It’s hurtful to hear these comments. It’s disappointing that Danielle (Georgia) chooses to make false claims and defamatory comments about me and our relationship. It’s especially hurtful because she knows firsthand how difficult being in the public eye is.”
He then reiterated that he created a boundary between them due to his mental health. Nick explained he did not feel communicating with Danielle yielded any positive results, and he was ready to move on from their separation. Nick and Danielle looked like the couple destined to be the first Love Is Blind long-term couple, and it’s sad to see how their relationship ended. Still, fans of the franchise with the two will overcome their differences and find partners in other people.
