In a disturbing turn of events, something that started as a routine traffic stop turned into a volatile altercation between a driver, their passenger, and ICE agents in Arizona. In a video posted on Facebook, officers could be seen breaking the windows of the car the person recording was in. While the officers were breaking the windows, the driver kept saying that they had done nothing wrong. When the windows were broken, one of the officers reached into the car and tried to grab the driver’s phone out of their hand. The officers then opened the back door and dragged the man to the ground. About three officers threw themselves on the man while he was on the ground.
One officer yelled, “Gun“, but the driver shouted that the man on the ground had no weapons and neither did they. An officer immediately lunged at the woman and threw her phone out of her hand. When she finally picked it up and pointed it at the face of the officer who had hit the phone, the video abruptly cut off. In the caption, the driver explained that they had stopped by an officer who told them to pull over at a “secluded location” at an exit. “Had a passenger in car and he is dark-skinned,” she wrote. Unknown to them, the officer had called Border Patrol, who swarmed the vehicle barely minutes after, with guns drawn.
Arizona Condemns Threats And Abuse Of Authority By ICE
Netizens stormed the comments, expressing deep-seated distress over police overreach, honesty, and safety. Many users fixated on the alleged moment when an officer screamed about a non-existent weapon.
Reacting with dismay at the violent behavior, a viewer wrote, “This is what out-of-control law enforcement looks like!” An outraged user characterized the incident as a nationwide emergency, highlighting the rampant issues of violence, excessive police authority, and the lack of basic empathy. Drawing from direct lived experience, a local alleged that they had never met an immigration or border patrol officer who operates with honesty. A cynic wrote, “Murrica, land of the hateful, home of the coward.” Another compared the brutal force used by the Nazis in Adolf Hitler’stime.
A frustrated user pointed out that the incident was just one of the numerous happenings all over the country, yet it was not being reported by mainstream media, while this comment read, “There was no gun, but ICE lied and yelled ‘GUN!’ so they could justify shooting them. (ICE lies, which makes ICE encounters terrifying.) Luckily, the other citizen loudly and clearly declared on camera that there was no gun and that they had no weapons.” A netizen advised the victims to seek legal representation, saying that the false alarm constitutes criminal endangerment.
Ultimately, the alleged Arizona entrapment runs counter to the very purpose of law enforcement and could have ended even worse than it did.
