An Oklahoma creator’s video of a woman arguing with a Ross employee took an unexpected turn when the woman shouted “Hail Hitler” mid-dispute. The remark shocked viewers, but the comment section quickly shifted toward the woman’s daughter, who later approached the creator and asked her to stop recording, leaving many defending the girl instead.
Posted to TikTok by @lifegoesonuntilitdont, the video captures a dispute already in progress between a woman and a Ross employee.
In the clip, the woman accuses the employee of assuming she was stealing. However, The employee clarifies she was not. The exchange grows tense from there. The woman accuses the employee of being rude and says she plans to speak to a manager.
As the worker turns to help another customer, the woman shouts, “Hail Hitler!” The employee tells the woman that’s enough and asks her to leave.
The woman’s daughter then approaches the creator and asks her to stop recording. The creator refuses, pointing out that they’re in a public area. The daughter says she’s a minor, and the creator responds that she is too, and that the space is still public. The woman continues arguing with the employee about the Oklahoma store’s policy.
In the caption of a follow-up video, the creator clarified that she wasn’t trying to publicly shame the daughter and had been filming the mother specifically. She also claimed to have received death threats and hateful comments on her other posts following the video’s release.
The Comments Take a Turn
The “Hail Hitler” comment initially stunned viewers. “Where did hail hitler come from,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Her whooole argument was thrown out the window after that comment.”
But attention quickly shifted to the daughter’s request. A large share of commenters felt the Oklahoma creator should have honored it. “You could have blurred the daughter’s face. She asked so nicely too. She doesn’t have to be punished for her own mother’s actions,” one wrote. Another argued, “It IS a public area but you are also a human being and can have compassion when she nicely asked you to stop filming.“
Several commenters brought up how the video could affect the daughter beyond the internet. “Do you know how embarrassing this must be for her at school if people she knows saw her mom acting this way in public?” one asked.
Not every commenter extended the daughter the same sympathy. Some argued her silence during the outburst spoke for itself. “She was so quick to ask not be recorded but did not say one word or bat an eye when her mom said what she said,” one wrote, adding that she was likely used to hearing that kind of language at home.
Judging by the comments, the woman’s “Hail Hitler” remark was the easiest part for viewers to condemn. The bigger debate became whether the creator should have shown more compassion toward the daughter, who appeared legitimately embarrassed by the confrontation.
