Sharing a strong resemblance to Tyranitar, Iron Thorns is a Rock- and Electric-type Paradox pocket monster in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that appears more robotic than organic. While some Trainers might gripe that this new Generation IX Pokémon is a simple reskin of an existing entry, it is hard to argue that Iron Thorns is not a cool and stylish-looking monster to have. On the other hand, the primary drawback of this robotic beast is that it is a Violet exclusive. In other words, Scarlet users will not be able to catch this Paradox pocket monster in their game, but it still can be traded or obtained by joining a player hosting Violet.
Catching Iron Thorns in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
To catch the Iron Thorns Paradox pocket monster in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Violet Trainers must access Area Zero. This special postgame location contains all the Paradox Pokémon of the player’s version of the game. This site is also where fans can find and capture their “Box Legendary,” which will be either Koraidon or Miraidon, depending on the version.

According to Attack of the Fanboy, Area Zero is a location that only becomes available once Trainers have completed Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street. Which route players choose to do first does not matter; as long as they complete the entirety of the main campaign, the game will grant them access to Area Zero within the postgame content. For reference, this Area is located within The Great Crater of Paldea at the center of the world map.
Keep in mind that much of the postgame content will be available once Trainers have rematched all the Gym Leaders and cleared the Academy Ace Tournament. Both of these activities are excellent experiences and grant worthwhile rewards, so players will likely be able to get through them easily. Once fans have made it into Area Zero, they will need to descend into a massive chasm at the mountain’s center. Along the way, they will encounter Research Stations, which act as checkpoints for easy future access. Eventually, Trainers will encounter one or more Iron Thorns in Pokémon Violet near the cocky cliff areas along the winding pathway downward. Players can opt to battle them or attempt an instant catch with an Ultra Ball.
