  • How To Use Sand

From your first dive into Disney Dreamlight Valley, you learn the importance of foraging. Thereโ€™s plenty to enjoy from the Plaza and Peaceful Meadows, but you’ll need to expand to gather more materials. As is the case with Sand. Sand is among the numerous materials in Disney Dreamlight Valley required for crafting recipes, so itโ€™s necessary to farm it. You wonโ€™t have to look too far for it though.

[Updated August 28, 2024 – included info on other means of getting sand and how to use it]

It seems quite obvious given that itโ€™s Sand, but if you want to farm it in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you must get to the beach. Dazzle Beach, to be more specific. So, pack up your sunscreen, gather your shovel, and letโ€™s get to work.

If youโ€™re new to Dreamlight Valley, you canโ€™t access Dazzle Beach right away. Plan to spend some time tackling various missions, raising friendship levels, and hoarding Dreamlight as youโ€™ll need 1,000 to unlock the Beach biome.

With it available, all thatโ€™s left is to travel to it. Whip out your shovel and start digging as the best way to farm Sand in Dreamlight Valley is to simply dig for it. Before you know it, youโ€™ll have enough Sand in your inventory to build a towering sandcastle (in your dreams, of course, not in-game).

Additional Sand Location in Dreamlight Valley

Digging the ground at Dazzle Beach isnโ€™t the only way to get Sand. Instead, you can also go to Glittery Dunes, an Eternity Isle biome, and dig there. Dazzle Beach is simply the earliest chance to collect Sand.

Besides digging, you can sometimes buy it from Kristoffโ€™s Stall once you unlock it. Additionally, thereโ€™s a chance some Sand will drop when you use your pickaxe to remove Sea Debris.

How To Use Sand

Once youโ€™re able to farm Sand in Disney Dreamlight Valley, youโ€™ll quickly learn how many crafting recipes or quests require it. Sand is required to make the following:

  • Arielโ€™s Crafting Station
  • Asphalt
  • Asphalt with Border
  • Basic Beach Chair
  • Basic Parasol and Towel
  • Blue Light High Beach Torch
  • Blue Light Low Beach Torch
  • Digging Training Manuel
  • Giant Hourglass

  • Granite Fire Bowl

  • Red Light High Beach Torch
  • Red Light Low Beach Torch
  • Sand Fountain
  • Yellow Light High Beach Torch
  • Yellow Light Low Beach Torch
  • Zen Garden

All of these crafting recipes arenโ€™t a necessity, but if you want the freedom to dabble with everything, then youโ€™ll need to farm Sand in Dreamlight Valley. You will, however, use Sand when completing the following quests as itโ€™s a mandatory ingredient:

  • A Tale of Stone and Fire (Maui)
  • Here and There and Back Again (Nala)
  • Thingamabobs, Gadgets, and Gizmos (Ariel)

If anything, Disney Dreamlight Valley proves that playing in the sand pays off. Just be sure your backpack has enough room to support your foraging endeavor.
