If you want Kratos to look and fight his best, you’ll need to know where to get Smoldering Embers. This rare crafting component can only be obtained in one way. Fortunately, our god-punching hero is no stranger to facing difficult challenges. Though getting this resource takes some effort, it’s worth it, because you can use it to craft some of the most prized items in the series. From Fallen Ash to Sindri’s Royal Dwarven Set, it’s worth a few tough fights to get these great armor sets and other gear. Whether you’re just starting your journey or are reaching its end, here’s where to get Smoldering Embers in God of War Ragnarok.

If you want to know where to get Smoldering Embers in God of War Ragnarok, there’s only one answer: Muspelheim. You win this crafting ingredient by completing Muspelheim challenges in The Crucible, so the first step is to travel there. Once you’ve reached the Realm of Fire, follow the path to the starting area to begin the Muspelheim Crucible Trials. There you’ll find a relic with which you can interact to begin the Trials. Completing a Trial rewards you with a chest containing Smoldering Embers. In addition to armor like the Smoldering Brimstone Set, Smoldering Embers can also be used to craft a variety of pommels and enchantments.

There are six Trials you can complete, with increasing rewards for each of them. Though every Trail involves combat of some kind, each poses a unique challenge. You may need to defeat regenerating enemies, hold out through multiple waves, or complete combat without taking damage. The final Trial sees you face off against the Valkyrie Gondul. The reward for defeating this difficult opponent includes not only some stylish new armor but also a treasure trove of Smoldering Embers. They might not be Zeus Armor, but you can’t go wrong with these rewards.

God of War Ragnarok is available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
