After triggering the Tolled to Rest quest, fending off an army of skeletons —because we all love them— and helping Oskar return to his post by the Ancient Battleground’s Cenotaph, the Arisen will receive the Ancient Battleground Key as a reward. But as you might imagine, the game won’t spell out the location of the key’s lock for you. Instead, the role will fall to one of your most perceptive pawns. Here’s where to find the Ancient Battleground Locked Door in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Ancient Battleground Locked Door Location in Dragon’s Dogma 2
After acquiring the Ancient Battleground Key, you will be able to find the door it opens by heading down the final set of stairs leading to the room featuring Oskar, the Nation’s Death Knell tome, and the bell. Once there, the door will be the one located on your right.
After opening the door, you will find a series of treasure chests featuring the following:
- 1x Ferrystone
- 2,200 gold.
- The Infernal Edge Duospear.
Although all of the rewards are valuable in their own right, the Infernal Edge is the cherry on top. Only the Mystic Spearhand and Warfarer vocations can use the weapon, allowing you to deal Fire damage per hit. Although not the strongest weapon for the class, I recommend those in the mid-game stages to keep it as a spare, just in case. The weapon can also work as a great alternative to the Fool’s Prize when facing goblins and their ilk, given their weakness to the element.
Now that you know where to find the Ancient Battleground door and get all the treasures within, make sure to take the opportunity to visit the game’s mysterious and honestly anxiety-inducing Sphinx, which can be easily reached from the outpost. Once found, the Sphinx will offer you a series of riddles that can reward you with both rare items and a multitude of gold. If you haven’t already, you can check out how to reach the Sphinx below, as well as how to solve each of her riddles in our All Sphinx Riddles Solutions in Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide.
How to Reach the Sphinx in Dragon’s Dogma 2
From the Ancient Battleground outpost, you can reach the Sphinx by heading to the area’s highest point and then making your way east through the wall until you spot a Cyclops. After defeating him, climb the ladder behind the area guarded by the now-fallen foe and head right through a broken wall to find a path leading to Worldsend Cavern. Once at the cavern, simply cross it and then continue north until you reach the Mountain Shrine housing the mythical being.
You can check out the location of Worldsend Cavern in the image below. Make sure to bring a Portcrystal with you when visiting the Sphinx for the first time, as you will need to return to Mountain Shrine multiple times before she changes her location.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be played right now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
