This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage isn’t the hardest game around, but you might struggle early on as you learn how to play. For beginners, learning how to sneak around and fight is a challenge, especially when things don’t go your way. Series veterans might want a challenge as they explore Baghdad’s map to test their skills. Finding the right balance is important, so we will break down which difficulty is best for you.

Selecting the Right Difficulty for Assassin’s Creed Mirage

You can change the difficulty in Assassin’s Creed Mirage at any time by going into the Main Menu and selecting Options. Shift to the Gameplay Tab and scroll down to find the Difficulty setting. The default difficulty is Normal, but you can also choose between Easy and Hard. You aren’t told that you can change difficulties, and it’s useful in case you are struggling or need a challenge.

Here are the three options and what they do:

  • Easy: Enemy detection speed and searching time are decreased. It’s easier to deal damage to enemies, and they have lower damage resistance. Pickpocket timing has more room for error.
  • Normal: Enemy detection speed and searching time are untouched. You deal regular damage to enemies, and their resistances don’t change. Pickpocketing is challenging but fair.
  • Hard: Enemy detection speed and searching time have increased, and you get spotted faster. You don’t deal as much damage to enemies, and they have higher damage resistance. The window for pickpocketing is narrow, and it takes good timing to pull it off.

If you are just starting out, Easy is the best difficulty to start learning. You won’t get caught as easily, and it helps you learn about guard positioning. Pickpocketing requires you to time your stealing within the correct radius, and it’s easier to learn when the timing is generous. Combat won’t immediately kill you, and you will learn how to fight effectively before moving to Normal.

For series veterans, Normal is a good difficulty to start with. You learn about the different enemy types and adjust to combat, especially if it’s been a while. The gameplay won’t be difficult to pick up, even if you take a break between games. If your weapons are more powerful or you have more tools in your arsenal, you can shift the difficulty to Hard to start testing yourself.

There’s no penalty for changing difficulties; you should do it if you are struggling or want a greater challenge. Difficulty won’t make it easier to grab Gear Chests or harder to reduce notoriety, meaning it only affects core gameplay. If you are still struggling, learning skills and getting better equipment can give you the edge you need.
