Outrage erupted online after three white girls in Michigan were accused of getting their black friend, who reportedly has epilepsy, intoxicated before allegedly attacking her.
According to claims circulating online, the victim was identified as Audrey, and the three girls allegedly knew beforehand that she had epilepsy and mental health issues. It was further alleged that they encouraged her to drink until she was too intoxicated to defend herself. According to those allegations, the assault shown in the video occurred afterward.
The three girls recorded a video showing Audrey lying intoxicated on a bed while they surrounded her. In the footage, one of the girls can be heard taunting her by saying, “What are you gonna do, Audrey?” Another then says, “I’m really about to kill this [expletive].” One of the girls also asks where they could hide Audrey’s body before the group begins laughing.
The video then appears to escalate, with one of the girls grabbing Audrey by the hair and saying, “You tryna leave this house [expletive] and I’m finna drag you by your [expletive] hair.” Audrey, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, could be heard mumbling but did not appear able to defend herself. Another girl then pulled on her hair while a third yelled at her. The girl holding Audrey by the hair then appeared to strike her multiple times in the body, causing Audrey to scream in pain.
The video then showed two of the girls continuing to strike Audrey while repeatedly telling her to “shut up.” At one point, one of them covered her with a blanket, and they pressed it over her as Audrey struggled underneath. It appeared to be an attempt to suffocate her. The girls could also be heard laughing throughout the incident. The video then showed one of the girls jumping and landing on Audrey’s body with her knees before doing it again but with her elbow, prompting Audrey to scream in pain. In the final moments of the footage, another girl covered Audrey’s mouth while again telling her to “shut up.”
The video quickly went viral, and social media users began sharing the names of the three girls. However, as of now, their identities have not been confirmed by law enforcement or other authorities. Posts circulating online also alleged that the girls had invited Audrey to spend time with them. She apparently considered them her friends. According to those unverified claims, they then got her intoxicated before the recorded assault took place. These allegations have not been independently verified.
Audrey allegedly woke up with no memory of the reported assault. This left her unaware of what had happened and without evidence to present to law enforcement at the time. The video that was recorded by the girls later leaked online and began circulating on social media. As of now, it is unclear whether authorities are investigating the incident or whether any arrests will be made.
