Wondering who is the villain in Mortal Kombat 1 after watching the story trailers? Well the game is already established to be a huge step forward for the Mortal Kombat franchise, and with the series timeline reset, there’s now room for a new threat to rise. However, if you’re a fan of the Mortal Kombat series, you might already be familiar with the Outworld sorcerers threatening all life and existence. Now before diving further into details about Mortal Kombat 1 antagonist, you should know that this piece is spoiler-free from Mortal Kombat 1 story.

Who Is Mortal Kombat 1’s Main Villain?

Shang Tsung is the main antagonist and villain of Mortal Kombat 1. As we see in the trailers, this evil sorcerer is now back to purpose a new threat to Earthrealm and all other worlds in the new timeline. In fact, Shang Tsung is now a bit different from who he was in the previous timelines. He is now a starter and still lacks the experience of the old evil sorcerer he was in previous timelines.

After the events of Mortal Kombat 11, Lord Liu Kang creates a new timeline. Sculpting the sands of time, The Fire God creates a timeline, filled with peace and living. To do so, he has kept the two great sorcerers of all time in check, just so they can live a poor life of misery instead of mischieving the emperors and conquering realms.

Shang Tsung and Quan Chi form a deadly alliance that can not be easily stopped. But even though Liu Kang has kept them in their new miserable fates, there’s a divine figure that wants otherwise. But who is this person, and how does he give power to Shang Tsung and Quan Chi to become the deadly alliance once more? For this question, you would need to play the Kampaign story mode of Mortal Kombat 1 to find out.
