The team at Wholesome Games released its Wholesome Direct event today. This Direct event is the first event by them and shows off a ton of games you can expect to see over the next few years. The direct was about 40 minutes long, and thus it’s understandable if you didn’t have the time to tune in. No need to fear though, as we’ve gone through and recapped everything revealed in the event for you. Without further adieu, here’s everything that was revealed at the Wholesome Direct 2020.

Wholesome Direct

Starting is everything available starting today. Kind Words is a game about writing letters to other people, giving them life advice and comforting words. There have been over one million letters sent, and the team celebrated with an update. You can write in a new room, interact with a cool little frog, play with a sea captain doll, and even hang with a “round cow”. As for games though, Winding Worlds, Toko Toko, and Depanneur Nocturne are all available starting today. Make sure to go try them out because they look like a lot of fun.

As for Wholesome Direct games releasing this year, there are a plethora of games. We can’t go in-depth for all of them, but Button City and Spiritfarer look great. Button City has you fighting to keep your local arcade alive with your friends and looks like fun. Spiritfarer, on the other hand, has you helping spirits from life into the afterlife. For other games, there’s Sayri: The Beginning, Mondo Museum, when the past was around, Book of Travels, Calico, Rainy Season, Wayward Strand, Melon Journey 2, Weaving Tides, Old Friends Dog Sanctuary, Haven, A Monster’s Expedition, Alchemic Cutie, Himig, Orange Island, Misc., and Hoa. There’s also a DLC for the game Tracks, so there’s a lot to look forward to over the next six months.

Wholesome Direct

Looking beyond 2020, there’s a huge list of Wholesome Direct games currently in development. Specifically, we’re a fan of SkateBIRD and Garden Story. SkateBIRD is a skateboarding game where you play as various birds in a small skate park. Garden Story though, looks to surprise fans with its Stardew-Esque atmosphere and cute visuals. For other games releasing, expect to see Errand Boy, Ooblets, Snacko, Chicory, The Spirit and the Mouse, Bird Alone, Little Witch in the Woods, TOEM, A Space for the Unbound, and much more!

Overall, the next few years look exciting for indie game fans. The games are all filled with creativity, and they should be a joy to play. What did you think of this year’s Wholesome Direct?
