Despite joining the Below Deck franchise in 2021, Daisy Kelliher has hugely impressed the show’s faithful. Daisy made her reality TV debut on season 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, taking the role of Chief Stew. Although it was her first major job on a boat, she easily slotted into the role because she comes from a long line of yachties and sailors, which goes back to her grandfather.
The 35-year-old chief stewardess was born in Dublin, Ireland, and lived there most of her life. As per Bravo TV, Daisy’s grandfather was an Olympic sailor who represented Ireland in 1964, and her parents and many of her uncles and aunts were in the yachting industry. So, it’s no surprise that Daisy hit the ground running from day one on the Parsifal III.
Before getting the Below Deck Sailing Yacht role, Daisy lived at her parent’s home in Ireland after losing her job during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a post on her Instagram page, it was very difficult for her as she struggled with not having a job. However, nearly three months later, she joined the reality TV show.
With some encouragement from her friends, Daisy decided to try it, and she hasn’t looked back ever since making her reality TV debut in season 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Daisy was a complete upgrade on season one’s chief stew Jenna MacGillivray and quickly stamped her authority on the entire interior crew while they toured Croatia in season 2. She has since reprised her role in Below Deck Sailing Yacht seasons 3 and 4 and impressed fans so much many now regard her as the best chief stew in the franchise.
Below Deck’s Daisy Kelliher Is Very Level Headed

One thing about reality TV is the tendency of the cast members to be overly dramatic to draw attention to themselves or create an entertaining storyline. While this strategy has proven successful over the years, in some cases, it backfires — as fans easily call out the forced narrative. Since Below Deck first premiered in 2013, several of the chief stews that have appeared on the show and the spin-off series have been guilty of inciting trouble on the boat and getting into feuds with their fellow castmates. However, Daisy has been a breath of fresh air for the show’s viewers, who consistently praise her for her impeccable attitude.
More recently, one Reddit user, Rollingstone, got fans talking about the chief stewardess when they started a thread with Daisy’s BDSY headshot alongside the caption,” Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s’ Daisy Kelliher Is the Best Chief Stew.” Fans quickly took to the comments section to express their thoughts on the hot topic. Most users commenting on the thread reiterated the OP’s sentiments, including user Serenity_Moon_66 who wrote,
“She’s the best by far!!! Adore her attitude. Even though I love Kate. BDSY is also the best of the BD franchise. I love Capitan Glenn. If you aren’t watching Sailing Yacht, you’re missing out!”
Most users boldly expressed their awe for Daisy and lauded the 35-year-old for being level-headed. The fans noted how she had been a calming presence on the series and genuinely looked out for her fellow cast members. One user, ShoutOutMapes, commented,
“Agreed. She’s the most level-headed and cool chief stew. Although I will always love Kate for her clever wordplay and humor.”
Daisy Separates Business From Pleasure
One other trait that distinguishes Daisy is that she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. Although Daisy has had a couple of boat romances, she doesn’t let her “extra-curricular” activities distract her from doing her job perfectly. During Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2, Daisy and First Mate Gary King quickly began a boatmance, and many fans pushed for the pair to make their relationship official. Nonetheless, the two never went beyond a few makeout sessions — with Gary’s wandering eye posing a problem to their romance.
However, after another colleague Colin MacRae returned for the season 4 single, Daisy quickly switched her attention to him, ending her romance with Gary. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t go down well with Gary, who labeled Daisy’s relationship with Colin “spiteful.” However, he has since backtracked his comments and wished the duo the best in their romance.
So far, fans have been very impressed with how Daisy has handled herself despite the “boatmances.” She has mixed things up with both men providing some entertaining content, but she has kept it from disturbing her work on the boat. Daisy’s professional character has made a certain favorite, and many will regard her as the best Chief Stew in the franchise if she keeps it up.
