Although The Bachelor season 27 has produced some shock exits, none of these exits have generated as much controversy as the recent eviction of Anastasia Keramidas. It all went down in episode four after Anastasia got into an altercation with Kylee Russell as the two struggled for a time with Zach during their group date. The altercation quickly escalated when Anastasia accused Kylee of threatening to fight her physically, although the latter did no such thing. Eventually, Kylee decided to discuss the situation with Zach Shallcross. After telling her side of the story, Kylee also reported some hearsay from Charity Lawson, who told her Anastasia had been talking about using the show to gain Instagram followers.
Throughout the season, Zach reiterated his commitment to not condone any drama and stayed true to his words by evicting one of the season’s favorites, Christina Mandrell. After hearing about the allegations, Zach met up with Charity, who confirmed the accusations against Anastasia. Afterward, Zach spoke to Anastasia about the allegations, and she admitted speaking about Instagram followers but not for the reasons the girls disclosed. Anastasia reiterated her commitment to building a connection with Zach, but The Bachelor had already made up his mind. Ahead of the final rose ceremony, Zach pulled Anastasia away for a chat, where he informed her about his decision to send her home. Still, Anastasia’s eviction caused a division within the show’s fanbase, with many arguing for and against her eviction.
Some Fans Feel All The Girls Are There For Publicity
Many fans took to Reddit to air their thoughts on a “Bachelor Morning After” thread. A section of the viewers noted that most girls on the show are there for publicity. One particular fan pointed out how most of the girls kept saying Anastasia should not have talked about Instagram rather than saying she shouldn’t have come on the show for Instagram followers. The fan AAronBalakay2020 wrote:
“‘Also, anyone notice how pretty much all of women were saying “you shouldn’t be talking about Instagram followers”. They weren’t saying “you shouldn’t be here for Instagram followers” Subtle difference, but like they implicitly admitting that talking about it was the real crime. Like they all know they’re all here for IG followers, but nobody wants to get caught and someone talking about with them could make them look bad.'”
The user believed that their statement showed that the actual crime was that Anastasia talked about it. For many of them, it was okay to be on the show for IG followers, don’t talk about it. Although Anastasia had her faults, especially her feud with Kylee, some felt she suffered an injustice due to her eviction.
Some Fans Feel Anastasia’s Words Were Misconstrued
Another group of The Bachelor fans backed up Anastasia’s claims that the girls misconstrued her words. The 31-year-old’s bio shows that she is a social media influencer. Anastasia claimed some of the girls came to ask her some questions and wanted contacts. The fans argued that it was nothing ordinary for her to discuss what she does for a living on the show. They claimed all the girls talk about their careers on the show, so Anastasia should shoulder all the blame for doing the same.
Some of the fans highlighted how it was okay for the situation to be viewed differently a few years ago when social media influencers were not so common. However, today many people are making careers as Instagram influencers, so it would be in the right place for them to look at the benefits of the show on their job. Many viewers also quickly pointed out that they never saw Anastasia with a realistic chance of going far on the show. However, after her eviction, Anastasia has returned to her career, and hopefully, The Bachelor alum will get as many Instagram followers as she hoped for.
