A Wisconsin Uber driver kicked out a female passenger after she claimed that the driver nearly ran her over, despite footage appearing to show otherwise.
The Uber driver regularly filmed her rides, which allowed her to capture footage of the incident. As she drove toward the passenger’s pickup location, she passed by the woman. However, the footage showed the passenger sitting on the curb, well away from the driver’s path.
“Mind you, she’s sitting on the curb all the way off to the side. I didn’t even see her,” the driver wrote on top of the video. The footage then showed her continuing toward the pickup location shown in the app before parking and waiting for the passenger.
To show how the interaction later affected her day, the driver included footage of herself laughing at something on her phone while waiting for the passenger to approach the car. “I am in a good mood was having a good day,” she wrote over the video before adding, “and suddenly here comes negative slowly approaching.”
The video then showed the passenger getting up from the curb and walking toward the driver’s car. When she got inside, the driver greeted her by saying, “hello,” but the passenger did not respond. The driver later wrote over the footage, “No greeting back. I can feel the negative energy.”
The driver still tried to remain polite, telling the passenger, “Sorry I don’t know why it brought me down here.” She also wrote over the video, “I apologize because sometimes the map is inaccurate. Trying to be nice.”
The passenger eventually responded, but instead of being friendly, she confronted the driver about passing her. She then said, “Almost ran me over.” Viewers pointed out that the footage appeared to show otherwise, as the passenger seemed to be sitting away from the car’s path. Because of the accusation, the driver waved her off and told her, “I’m not taking a ride. Bye.”
“Ain’t nobody run you over. I got cameras, weirdo. Shut up [expletive],” the driver continued as the woman exited the vehicle. The driver kept arguing with her, telling her, “Slap my door, I’ll slap you, you old [expletive].” As she began driving away, the driver cursed at the woman again before the video ended shortly afterward.
Despite the confrontation, the driver said in the caption that she forgave the woman. “This is an example of how everyday some low vibrational spirit tries to bring me down in the most random way. It’s not the physical only but spiritual first always. I forgive this lady as I hope she forgives me and pray she has a better life,” she wrote. The footage appeared to contradict the passenger’s claim that the driver nearly ran her over.
Viewers Side With Wisconsin Driver After Kicking Out Passenger
After watching the video shared by the Wisconsin Uber driver, many viewers sided with her and criticized the passenger for an accusation they believed the footage contradicted. “Lying that fast was INSANE,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “‘Almost ran me over’ and [expletive] was damn near in Dubai from how far away she was bruh.”
More viewers criticized the passenger and pointed out that the driver’s cameras helped document what happened. “Thank goodness for dash cams because some where someone woulda believed them!” one person wrote. Others supported the driver’s decision to end the ride, with another commenter saying, “glad you instantly got her out.”
The incident highlighted how cameras can help drivers document encounters in case they face serious accusations from passengers. It also raised the question of when an Uber driver may decide to end a ride and ask a passenger to leave.
