Some good Taco Bell can hit the spot, no doubt about it, but is it good enough you’d crash your car into a cop? Debatable. However, that’s precisely what happened to a 41-year-old Wisconsin woman who was enjoying a succulent Taco Bell meal. Allegedly, the victim rear-ended by the taco muncher was an officer out on patrol near a highway, traveling at around 60 mph. However, he noticed a vehicle behind him incoming at breakneck speed. Panicking, the policeman accelerated in an attempt to escape but still ended up getting rammed from behind, with his trunk getting smashed in.

According to Fox 11, the Wisconsin woman was not intoxicated or driving under the influence. Instead, she was so deeply distracted with her Taco Bell that she wasn’t paying attention to the road. Fortunately, the officer is reported to have been only slightly injured but was hospitalized nonetheless. Still, there’s got to be some trauma he now holds after being rammed into by an oncoming vehicle at high speed. But, at least it wasn’t some anti-police incident but rather just a person really, really enjoying their takeout.
That said, even if a driver and police officer’s lives were put at risk over some Taco Bell, Reddit found the story to be quite entertaining. A top comment on a post covering the story reads, “When asked if she had a comment she stated, ‘I’m not sure if I should taco bout it without my lawyer.'” “Eating tacos while driving is one of the most unhinged things I’ve heard,” another user remarks. “French fries? Sure. A tasty burger? Slightly dangerous, but okay. Slice of pizza? No problem. [But] a f**king taco that begins disintegrating while still unwrapping it? Straight to jail.” Puns and jokes aside, some Redditors were wondering just exactly how fast the woman was driving to hit a police car moving at 60+ mph.
“The Police cruiser was going 60? So how fast was she going? 80?” one person wonders. “I’d bet on 95-110,” replied another. After all, “The officer attempted to accelerate and was still hospitalized with minor injuries.” Hopefully, this story will be a lesson to anyone who orders takeout before heading home — wait until you’re at the dinner table before eating it! Or, at least wait until your car is parked and not moving down a highway.
