This name is probably familiar to you because of the infamous and never-ending list that classifies video games by how woke they are. Although almost no video game is spared from having something woke, even if it is a small thing, it is marked for life by this list. Even though many disagree on how the ranking works, the group in charge has firm opinions on the matter. Now, the latest victim of the Woke Content Detector was Monster Hunter Wilds. As if Wilds didn’t already have enough problems with its Mixed Reviews on Steam, there are already those who complain about it being a very woke game. By the way, it’s not any of these things as this woke detector is rubbish.
There are too many differences of opinion about this particular list. For example, some people think that the way some games end up in the Woke category is very arbitrary, even if it is only for a single element. For example, in the case of Elden Ring, which is considered Woke because, in the customization, there is the option of “Body Type” instead of “Biological Sex.” This time, what got Monster Hunter Wilds a place among the Woke games of the Woke Content Detector are these characteristics:
- Pro-DEI
The game does not make a direct reference, so this could be due to its diverse characters. - Pro-LGBTQ+
There is also no specific mention of preferences or types of interpersonal relationships between characters. So this may be because of some of the customization options. - Pro-Climate Action
This might be the only direct aspect since the characters must save the area from contaminated monsters and stop the climate impact started by an ancient civilization. - Pro-Immigration
It is not like the people and civilizations in the desert must immigrate to other countries, but they move to protect themselves from the monsters’ attack. This point is not a political process as it is in real life.
Of course, the review excerpt clarifies that all the above points are “subtly” and that everyone can have their own opinions. But at least these “Woke” aspects of Monster Hunter Wilds don’t seem so predominant to make it part of this content detector’s red list.
