A woman traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and scheduled an appointment at a hair salon for an upcoming pageant. After arriving early, she found the salon empty and locked, and she got a message from the stylist saying the appointment had to be rescheduled. Why? Because of a comedy show, of course.
Trinity Jagdeo shared her experience online. She is a motivational speaker and author who often shares content revolving around her work and charity. The clip attached above went viral in a little over a day, garnering 574,700 views, 60,200 likes, and more than 700 comments.
Trinity, from New Jersey but traveling to Michigan for a pageant, booked a hair appointment with Konfident Kay Luxury Hair Salon. Later in the video, she explained that she chose that salon because of its positive reviews.
The appointment was scheduled for 7 p.m., and she arrived 30 minutes early. Expecting to wait inside, Trinity found, instead, an empty and locked salon. Once she checked her phone, she found an explanation.
Surprise Cancellation
The hair stylist she booked the appointment with messaged her right then and there, saying that they needed to reschedule for the next day. According to the message Trinity showed in the video, the stylist said her boyfriend had “surprised her” with tickets to see comedian Gary Owen at DeVos Performance Hall and asked to move Trinity’s appointment to the following day.
Rescheduling was impossible, since Trinity was a judge for a Ms. Wheelchair America pageant. She needed to have her hair done in advance. Trinity tried to work out another solution, explaining that she couldn’t simply move the appointment to the following day, but she said the stylist stopped responding.
“[She] completely ghosted me. So unprofessional,” she said. “I’m beyond disappointed.”
The hair stylist eventually messaged Trinity back at 7:12 p.m. That is 12 minutes after the appointment was originally scheduled. She told her that she was “finishup up at the nail salon” and apologized for the inconvenience.
Reactions
Viewers found the sudden cancellation unacceptable. One commented on how the hair salon looked, saying, “Call the board, especially if she took any money.”
Some commented on how the hair salon looked when she arrived to find it locked. One wrote, “That place looked abandoned.” Another one added, “I thought that was a crack house when I drove by it.”
Fortunately for Trinity, another Grand Rapids salon, P.O.E Organics, managed to squeeze her in despite the last-minute request. In a follow-up video, she showed off the finished look, meaning she ultimately had her hair ready in time for the pageant.
