Woman Catches Wisconsin Shopper Exchanging Used Kid’s, “You’re Essentially Borrowing That Amount of Clothes from Target”

If you’ve ever tried to return an item at a store, you know some stores make you jump through hoops. While some stores are lax with returns, others are not so much. A Target shopper in Wisconsin judged a mother on TikTok who decided to make a return she found questionable. Her video tells all as she shares her experience and her thoughts on what should be allowed in the world of returns.

The video, which was posted by the.mama.meg, shares her experience while shopping at her local Target. She claims that she was at a return desk this past week and was shocked that a customer was attempting to return an entire bag full of clothing. The problem? The clothes weren’t brand new. According to the.mama.meg, the clothes were worn by the mother’s daughter and she outgrew them.

Meg claims the Wisconsin associate at the desk asked, “Okay, are they damaged?” The mother replied, “No, my daughter outgrew them.” The Target associate told the mother the return policy was for damage clothing items only. Target’s return policy also specifies you have a year to get a refund. The.mama.meg watched the woman and the associate argue back and forth on the manner for a little while. Ultimately, the associate told her she was permitted to refuse the return.

Meg was stunned by the entire interaction and asked her TikTok followers, “You think you can return a whole lot of clothes because your daughter outgrew them? So you’re essentially borrowing that amount of clothes from Target or any store. Like, what in the world? That is just wild to me.” She also added, “You know, they’re not gonna resell the clothes. You just think you can borrow the clothes and get your money back?” Meg then asked her viewers for their opinions on the matter.

One viewer said about Meg’s experience, “This is the perfect example of people abusing a store policy, and then ruining it for the rest of us when we actually have to return something.” Another replied, “People’s entitlement is over the top now a days!”

More than anything, this video highlights peoples’ uncharitable judgement on complete strangers. It’s important to note that, especially in the US, people are experiencing desperate financial times. If your first instinct is to judge the mother poorly, you’ve lost the game of empathy. You should be wondering what led a Wisconsin mother to do this.

Sure, it wouldn’t be fun to purchase dirty, used clothing from Target, thinking it was new. But you know what? If that happens, then you return it to Target and get your money back.
