It seems like more weird things are happening in the United States. People have been recently worrying about being surveilled by the government. Now, there is another reason to worry. A woman was left scared after she went to the Twins Days Festival in Ohio. She was there to photograph twins, but discovered that the FBI was there as well; they weren’t at the festival to celebrate it. It all started when she noticed hundreds of twins standing in a line waiting for something. She then saw that they were standing at a booth named “research” where they gave their fingerprints and got their photos taken. It turned out that this research was being conducted by the FBI.
The woman didn’t leave the Ohio festival before questioning those responsible for the research. When she asked them what the information the FBI was gathering was used for, one told her that they would train AI with it. It got more creepy when another person interrupted the man who gave this information and said they aren’t allowed to disclose this. In exchange for this data collection, the FBI gave each twin a $50 gift card. It got even weirder because she mentioned how a man with an FBI cap started trying to film her as well once he noticed she was filming the booth.
When the woman informed some of the twins in line that this was being conducted by the FBI and that they were using their data to train AI, they left the line. This means that those responsible for this experiment didn’t even tell the twins what their information would be used for. Doing “research” on twins brought to people’s minds how the Nazis used to do the same thing. “Twins were separated from the other prisoners during the massive ‘selections’ that took place at the camp’s massive train platform, and whisked off to a laboratory to be examined,” History reported. The whole thing is very peculiar.
People Reacting to the FBI’s Research at the Ohio Twins Festival
The fact that the FBI was at the Ohio twins festival was disturbing to many. They thought it was weird that something like this was happening. “I AM this woke. That’s hella shady,” one woman wrote. Many people also mentioned how the Nazis did studies on twins as well. “You know who ELSE was notiriously studying twins…? [sic]” one person asked. Another person then said, “going off history…I’d be extremely concerned of whhyyy someone would want a registry of twins….I remember a certain Dr in another country being very into twins…” Someone else wrote, “a LOT of twin research is shady/ eugenics based.” That definitely doesn’t sound good.
More people shared their opinions about the FBI research booth at the Ohio festival. One person commented on how the FBI didn’t reveal the purpose behind this to the twins there. “For $50, but yeah basically. The fact that they’re not telling anyone up front that it’s for a database to train AI is probably why there’s still so many people doing it,” they wrote. Someone else asked, “And they didn’t give you a copy of the consent forms? Where is the transparency?” That’s a valid question. Others talked about why anyone would participate in this just for $50. “Selling their data for $50 is crazy,” one person said. “Why were people lined up for that?” another person asked. Since this wasn’t covered by many people, one TikTok user told the woman who shared the video, “thanks for shedding light on this.” Hopefully, more individuals will question why this happened.
