Everyone knows Knuckles, right? He’s bright red, the last of the echidnas, and a fearsome warrior, but how is he as a co-star? It’s time to find out, because Knuckles the series is about to hit Paramount+, and the fans want to know what the series’s star is like behind the camera. The series’s human cast – including Adam Pally, Scott Mescudi, Ellie Taylor, Edi Patterson, and Cary Elwes – have shared their thoughts on working with Knuckles in a new behind-the-scenes featurette.
‘Knuckles’ Cast Gives The Behind-The-Scenes Truth With Paramount+
The most recent version of Knuckles the Echidna made his feature film debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022). Voiced by Idris Elba, Knuckles was initially working with Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik to take the Master Emerald and restore the honor of his people. However, after Robotnik’s motives were revealed, Knuckles swapped sides to work with – and eventually move in with – Sonic (Ben Schwartz) and Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey). Now, as an honorable echidna warrior faced with a brand-new life on Earth, Knuckles is getting his very own spinoff on Paramount+.
The Knuckles series will have Elba, Schwartz, and O’Shaughnessey all reprising their roles, along with Tika Sumpter as Maddie. Pally Green, who will star as Wade Whipple, Green Hill’s deputy and Knuckles’s protege, says he loves working with Knuckles in a brand-new featurette.
“I love working with Knuckles. He’s the most professional actor I’ve ever met. He knows his lines, and your lines, and your motivation, and the phone number for your high school drama teacher in case he wants to blame someone.”

Cary Elwes, who stars as “Pistol” Pete Whipple, added that behind the scenes, Knuckles in “very method”, though we hope he isn’t taking to the extreme, a la Heath Ledger‘s Joker. Also, Elwes reports his co-star has “no sense of humor, at all”, but that’s almost to be expected from a bright red alien hybrid who hails from a race of honorable warriors.
Speaking of warriors, no one knows Knuckles’s fighting prowess quite like Ellie Taylor, who’s playing Agent Willoughby, an agent working for “The Buyer.” Taylor says that doing fight scenes with Knuckles is “interesting”, though maybe that’s an understatement.
“He takes things a little bit too far. I mean, he launched my stunt double right across the room with just a little [jab].”

Method acting and over-eager fight scenes aside, it seems like everyone in the new Knuckles featurette is getting along nicely with the star of the new Paramount+ series. The series pilot will be directed by Jeff Fowler, with additional directors including Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Carol Banker, and Jorma Taccone. Executive producers include Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, John Whittington, Toru Nakahara, and Idris Elba.
Knuckles will be available on Paramount+ on April 26th.
