World of Warships is a free-to-play naval combat simulator. Developed and published by Wargaming Group Limited, players have access to “more than 300 historic warships.” These ships include such vessels as the Bismarck and the Yamato. Whether you sneak with destroyers or bombard with aircraft carriers, there’s a strategy for every personality.
World of Warships first released onto consoles in September of 2015. It later released on Steam to positive reviews later in 2017. Built more for the multiplayer aspect, players can join friends in a PvE or PvP match. Known for their collaborations, their most recent was with the anime Azur Lane.
Hasbro has joined with Wargaming Group Limited to bring out some familiar faces.
World of Warships Gets Invaded by Transformers
In a partnership with the toy giant, developers are releasing new skins. The addition of popular Transformers should attract plenty of new fans. Megatron, leader of the Decepticons, appears as a skin for the SS Grosser Khurfurst. This ship served in the German Imperial Navy during World War 1. It was 575 feet in total length from bow to stern. In addition to the Decepticon leader, they’ve also added Rumble as a skin for Khabarovsk. This ship is designed with an anti-air defense in mind.
Along with the baddies come their good-guy counterparts, the Autobots. We will see their fearless leader Optimus Prime, and his lieutenant, Bumblebee. World of Warships will dd them as the USS Montana and the Gearing (X-class WWII Warship) skins respectively. Not only will players gain exclusive skins, but their vessels will be commanded by each character. When you sail the X Montana into the ocean, you will hear Optimus Prime giving commands. Players will also receive dedicated in-game tasks and combat missions.
Players can expect the update to come next month in September. World of Warships is available free-t0-play on Steam and both PS4 and Xbox One. Are you looking forward to the World of Warships/Transformers collaboration? What ship will you set sail with first? Let us know in the comments.
