This year, we have two MMO titans clashing against each other, and while FFXIV might’ve reigned the last year, World of Warcraft wants that throne back. To celebrate the imminent release of WoW: The War Within‘s beta, Blizzard has unveiled a new forbidding trailer. It seems the developers are aiming for a really dark and deep (no pun intended) story this time. And with The Harbinger setting her plans in motion, this expansion could spell danger for Azeroth in many ways.
In the latest Shadow and Fury trailer for WoW: The War Within, we can see more of the expansion’s atmosphere coming to the beta. For the unaware, we are leaving the Dragon Isles behind. Now, we’re going to Azeroth’s depths to confront this saga’s new villain and face some iconic enemies. However, the recent video shows many key characters scared and angry at whatever is happening to the world. Looking at Jaina and Thrall worried is never a good sign.
Frankly, recent expansion plots haven’t been World of Warcraft‘s forte. Shadowlands was a cosmic trainwreck, and Dragonflight, while it featured fantastic gameplay, didn’t have a mindblowing story. However, it seems the team behind this legendary MMO is aiming for greater heights, and we can see this in these teasers. With a broken Andiun being brought back to fight, Alleria facing her demons, and even Khadgar joining the fray, we’re in for a grand adventure.
For those with WoW: The War Within‘s Epic Edition, you can try the expansion soon enough. Starting June 5, handpicked players and those holding the aforementioned edition can try some of the upcoming features. Dungeons, Delves, Warbands, and more will be available for testing. If you don’t have the Epic Edition, you might still get an invitation. But if you want to wait a bit, The War Within will launch sometime in 2024.
