The Game Awards 2019 certainly started off with a bang, right? Xbox has officially unveiled the name and a first-look at their next-gen console, the Xbox Series X. The console will release in Holiday 2020 and you can check out the trailer down below:

Xbox Series X - World Premiere - 4K Trailer

The Xbox Series X will be the most powerful console in the platform’s history. In a press release, Xbox said that it was actually four times more powerful than the Xbox One X. The design appears to be sleeker and less clunky compared to previous Xbox consoles. The Xbox Series X also supports vertical and horizontal orientation.

According to Xbox, it will be the “fastest, most powerful console ever and set a new bar for performance, speed, and compatibility, allowing you to bring your gaming legacy, thousands of games from three generations and more forward with you.”. Based on that statement, it seems that full backwards compatibility will be one of the key features for the next-gen console. This is a good call for Microsoft as the original Xbox One thrived when they introduced this feature.

The controller that comes with every Xbox Series X is much like the current iterations. There are a few noticeable changes, however, like a revamped d-pad and a share button. You can use the new controllers on your Xbox One and Windows 10 PC as well.

Along with this reveal, Xbox also announced Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 with in-game engine footage. One thing is for sure. The next-generation of consoles are going to have some outstanding visuals.

The Xbox Series X will release in Holiday 2020.
