What a way to kick off the week. Xbox Game Pass was on a roll last month, but it’s already gearing up with some upcoming games and the return of one of the best classic shooters of the 360 era. Furthermore, it will be a free upgrade for some users and will include a lot of technical enhancements. So, if you’ve never played this game before, you’re about to witness the start of one of the most legendary gaming series out there.

Xbox just announced today that Gears of War: Reloaded will launch on August 26, 2025, on Xbox consoles, Xbox Game Pass, Steam, and PS5 consoles. This is huge, especially the latter, as no one imagined Gears of War would make its way to a Sony console. Yet, it is fantastic as many players who’ve never had the chance to play this title before will be able to do so and in the best possible way. On top of that, there are many enhancements coming to the game as well as everything from the Ultimate Edition, making this the perfect way to experience Gears of War for the first or hundredth time.

Out of all the notable things, Gears of War: Reloaded will come with 4K support, 60 FPS on campaign mode, 120 FPS in multiplayer mode, HDR, VRR, no loading screens during campaign, among other improvements. In truth, the most exciting part is the 120 FPS for multiplayer, which will make that mode even smoother and more visceral than ever before.

Reloaded Will be a Free Upgrade for Some Players

Beyond that, players who owned the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before today’s announcements will get Gears of War: Reloaded as a free upgrade. This is huge for those who’ve stuck around the series for years and shown their love to the squad. And, as we mentioned above, Gears of War: Reloaded won’t be exclusive to Xbox consoles only. Steam players will also get to enjoy this, but most importantly, PS5 players will see Gears of War for the first time on that platform.
