Walmart listed a Xbox One Elite Console on its website for a short duration of time. OXCGN took a screen-cap of the listing, showing a price of $499 USD, ($150 more than a Xbox One), and a ready to ship date slated for December 31st. An image was not shown.
Many are projecting that Microsoft will announce an Xbox One Elite Console at Gamescom. During E3, Microsoft announced that it had more news but that it was too much to fit into a single press conference. Microsoft already revealed its Xbox One Elite controller, for $149.99.
No other details are known, although it is highly possible that this is part of a larger Xbox One console bundle, most likely including the Xbox One Elite controller and potentially a 1TB HDD. The standard Xbox One console is $350. Adding $149 for the controller brings the total to around $499.
It will be interesting to see how fans, as well as Microsoft, react to the news. Many fans are upset at the hefty price of the Xbox One Elite controller, so marketing it as part of a bundle makes sense for Microsoft. Nevertheless, it is possible that the listing is an error in Walmart’s system, so fans will need to wait for an official statement.
