Last week, there were indications that Microsoft was going to unveil a brand new Xbox One controller at their E3 media briefing. Now it appears that the controller will come with a new and improved console.
A 1 TB Xbox One model was listed on Amazon; which is an upgrade over the current 500 GB unit. The new console comes with the new controller, which has a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a copy of the Master Chief Collection.
According to the listing, the new Xbox One will not feature the Kinect. It will also have a June 15th release date, along with a $400 USD price point. Since the story broke however, the listing has been removed.
Not the exact model. But use your imagination.
June 15th is also the same day Microsoft is doing their E3 press conference. Microsoft has a track record of showing new Xbox models during E3 and then releasing them on the same day. This was evident in 2010 when Microsoft announced a slim Xbox 360 and released it that day. In 2013, Microsoft announced a Xbox One-themed Xbox 360, which was also released on the same day as the announcement.
While the Xbox One does support external hard drives, there is a need for a larger internal hard drive. Phil Spencer acknowledged the issue back in November 2014 when he stated, “ I understand the need for bigger HDs.” This new model will appease that issue.
Look for confirmation at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, which takes place on Monday, June 15th at 9:30 a.m.
