The young adult is excited about having a customized Tinker Bell doll following her role in “Peter Pan and Wendy.” Yara’s first ‘ish’ moment was on the Black-ish series. As she grew older, she reprised her role, Zoey, in the spin-off titled “Grown-ish.”
But the show’s producer Kenya Barris has confirmed that the latest season will be the end not just for the “Grown-ish” series but for the ish-series. While her days on the “Grown-ish” series draw to an end, Yara Shahidi is moving on to other projects. The 23-year-old has joined a host of actors in one of Disney’s latest projects as she talked to ET Online.
Yara Shahidi Talks About Her Grown-ish Ending
For five seasons, Yara Shahidi has made viewers fall in love with her “Grown-ish” role, but it will end soon. While appearing at the premiere of her latest film, “Peter Pan and Wendy,” she gushed about the series’ history. In her words:
“I mean, we hit 100 episodes. Shows don’t get to do that anymore.”
The onscreen star confessed that it was a bittersweet feeling to end it. While the story needs to be finished, it was a good ride. She connected with her onscreen character, Zoey. Through Zoey, the show explored the depths of a young adult’s life.
Yara Shahidi Shares Views on Her Tinker Bell Doll At the ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ Premiere
Despite the end of a good series, fans will get to see their favorite “Grown-ish” star in a fairytale story. Yara Shahidi plays the role of Tinker Bell and has received a customized doll. She shared her thoughts with an ET correspondent on the red carpet of the “Peter Pan and Wendy” film premiere.
“I think to have a Tinker Bell doll, but also, for them to say when they made the Tinker Bell doll… I didn’t think I’d ever be hearing that in my life.”
This is not the first time she would have a doll in her honor. Her first custom-made doll was Alvin Ailey ballerina, and having a lookalike doll felt divine.
After gushing about her doll moment, Yara Shahidi went on about her inspiration to play Tinker Bell in the new film. Apart from using her creative mind, she relied on Julia Roberts and Josephine Barker for fairy facial expressions.
Following its premiere, ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ is set to air on April 28. Jude Law, Ever Anderson, and Alexander Molony are joining Shahidi for an adventurous ride.
