The hit western series Yellowstone is coming to an end. However, Cole Hauser seems to believe that the franchise needs a continuation. The show has seen its fair share of ups and downs. The Kevin Costner drama was what really spelled doom for the series. Despite that, the fans have made it known how much the show means to them, and that they want it to continue. It would seem as though Hauser shares those feelings as he opens up about the show’s future.
According to the Daily Mail, Cole Hauser said it “sure would be a shame” not to continue the Dutton family’s story. The actor continued by going over the show’s numbers. Yellowstone was able to reach over 15.7 million viewers last season. Hauser then said that those kinds of numbers “speak for themselves.” Cole seems to want to reprise his iconic role as Rip Wheeler. Rumors of a spin-off starring Huaser and his co-star Kelly Reilly have already begun flying.
Cole Hauser Wants To Take Part in Another Yellowstone Spin-off
Yet another spin-off could be exactly what this franchise needs. With the final season currently coming out, Cole has already said the ending is good. However, a continuation of the main story with characters from the original show could be a gold mine. A series led by Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler and Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton could perfectly transition the original show into a sequel spin-off show.
Yellowstone has proven time and time again that there are plenty of untapped storylines. The series’ other spin-offs told the story of how the Dutton family built their massive cattle ranch. The rumors of this new show have been around for a while now. However, while nothing is confirmed yet, Cole may be trying to convince writer Taylor Sheridan. Hauser recently stated that if Sheridan gave it the green light, he would return for a spin-off show.
While Taylor Sheridan has killed it with Yellowstone, he may just want to leave it at that. After the falling out between Taylor and Kevin Costner, the writer may need a break. Costner was the series’s star for many years until he started causing issues. Kevin allegedly wanted more money for less time on set. He then left completely to work on his own film that ended up completely tanking.
It would be safe to say that Cole Hauser really wants to continue Rip’s story. However, everything is up in the air right now. Despite that, fans still have plenty of episodes to watch as Yellowstone comes to an end. Will they get to see more of the Dutton family, or will this finally be it? Only time will tell.
