The legendary WWE superstar John Cena, in addition to other great athletes, is being added as a playable character in PGA Tour 2k23 as of April 7th. He’ll be included the same day EA Sports’ own PGA Tour game is released.
WWE’s John Cena Joins PGA 2K23 Roster
The latest celebrity, in addition to Basketball Legend Michael Jordan and NBA Star player Steph Curry, WWE wrestler and actor John Cena, is being added to the roster, reported by 2K Sports.
2K sports has also revealed some other goodies, which include playable pro-Nelly Korda, the Spyglass Hill Golf course, Eastside Gold Gear, the Pinehurst No. 2 course, and Barstool Sports Foreplay Podcast playable golfers.
According to some speculations, people think this was a calculated step from EA sports to release its first officially licensed PGA Tour after eight years, the same time John Cena’s arrival time was confirmed on 2 K’s Twitter account. Or maybe this was just a coincidence?
EA Sports published PGA Tour games from 1990-2015. 2015 was the last year when Tiger Woods confirmed the partnership with EA had ended with the last game in the series, 2015’s Rory McIlroy PGA Tour.
2K Sports, the acclaimed rival of EA Sports, published PGA Tour 2K21 in 2020 and then, in October 2022, announced PGA Tour 2K23. The most exciting part of it all is the announcement of the long-term partnership with Tiger Woods last year. Yikes.
The fall of 2022 brought the forgotten series back to life with 2 K’s Two-year Golf project. The long-awaited return of John Cena to the WWE made this the most anticipated event of the year. 2K also gave Cena’s character a blue and red polo shirt with a silver hat identical to his DC Superhero character, Peacemaker, as a tribute.
