A video was posted to X by Delaware Senator Chris Coons in which he appears to be condemning a decision being made to provide an additional $72 billion to Donald Trump’s controversial Secure America Act.

We’ll be voting all day—and probably all night—on Republicans’ party line bill to fund Trump’s mass deportation effort. Republicans would rather give ICE a blank check than support commonsense, popular reforms that law enforcement officers around the country abide by every day. pic.twitter.com/rcal8IRG5C

— Senator Chris Coons (@ChrisCoons) June 4, 2026

In the video, Coons explains that “they refuse to accept our position, Democrats in the Senate, that there should be simple common-sense reforms to how ICE and border patrol are policing in America.” Various users took to the comments section under the video to share their opinions, which seemed to primarily be against Coons.

The video continues to criticize the bill, without directly naming it, with the caption above the video reading, “We’ll be voting all day—and probably all night—on Republicans’ party line bill to fund Trump’s mass deportation effort. Republicans would rather give ICE a blank check than support commonsense, popular reforms that law enforcement officers around the country abide by every day.“

Currently, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are not legally required to read Miranda rights when detaining or arresting someone, and can wear face coverings to prevent doxing. This has proven controversial when agents are portrayed in the media.

By the end of the video, Coons explains that the amount being asked to fund this bill is expected to be paid for by taxpayers. According to Congress’s website, the Secure America Act imposes restrictions on the admission of aliens, including refugees, and addresses related issues.

Specifically, no refugees may be admitted until Congress enacts a joint resolution setting the maximum number of refugees allowed to be admitted in a particular fiscal year. Currently, that number is set each fiscal year by the President.

Despite this, the comments section beneath the video consisted of users starkly against Coons.

Reactions to Senator Chris Coons Talking About Funding Trump’s Mass Deportation Effort

Commenters took to the replies underneath the video to express their frustrations with Coons and his statement against the Secure America Act. One of the top comments on this reads, “Americans want a secure border and immigration laws that actually mean something. That should not be controversial.”

A different commenter accused Senator Coons of being against America, writing, “Just admit it. You hate America and its citizens. You want illegals, someone you can control. You should be proud.“

As the video continues to gain popularity on X, more and more users are leaving their opinions in the comments and expressing their frustrations with others.
