The struggle is real for many PC gamers who have no choice but to squeeze out every last drop of performance they can get from their decrepit gaming hardware. Sometimes, however, there’s nothing left to squeeze. But that didn’t stop a Danish YouTuber from playing Red Dead Redemption 2, one of the most demanding games ever, even though he had to endure it at 2-4 FPS (frames per second), reaching 12 hours just to finish the tutorial.
The 59-year-old Danish YouTuber, named MongoTV has unexpectedly become a viral sensation after documenting his painfully slow playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2, running the critically acclaimed game at an almost unplayable 4 frames per second, sometimes it even goes down to just 2 FPS.
The creator has been steadily uploading videos of his experience, showing what many viewers describe as a “slideshow version” of Rockstar Games’ open-world masterpiece. While most players aim for at least 30 to 60 FPS for smooth gameplay, Mongo TV’s aging laptop struggles to deliver even a fraction of that, turning every movement into a test of patience.
According to details shared in his videos, the YouTuber is playing on a laptop equipped with an Intel Core i5-8300H processor and an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB of VRAM, hardware that, on paper, should be capable of running the game far better.
However, clips circulating online reveal a system under heavy strain, complete with a loud, constant roar from the cooling fans. Viewers have speculated that overheating and thermal throttling may be severely limiting performance, especially since the laptop appears to be clogged with dust and hasn’t been cleaned in some time.
It was Torture for Most PC Gamers
Despite these challenges, Mongo TV has refused to quit. In one of the most talked-about details, he revealed that completing the game’s introductory chapter, typically a two-hour experience for most players, took him more than 12 hours. At that pace, some estimates suggest a full playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2 could stretch to over 400 hours, potentially nearing 471 hours in total.
Mongo TV’s clips have sparked a wave of reactions across social media, ranging from admiration to disbelief. Some users praised his determination, calling it “next-level dedication,” while others questioned why anyone would willingly endure such a frustrating experience. A few joked that the ultra-low frame rate might be “a nice way to wait for gta6 😀 ,” referencing the long-anticipated next title from Rockstar.
Funny enough, gaming enthusiasts have also pointed out that the hardware itself shouldn’t be the main issue, suggesting that incorrect settings, outdated drivers, or even the game running on integrated graphics could be contributing to the unusually poor performance. Perhaps Mongo TV might have even chosen to undergo this kind of gaming challenge willingly.
