‘YouTubers Ruined It’: Players Say Black Ops 7 Zombies Is Now Harder After Season 1 Changes

Why mess with the game flow anyway?

Despite the controversial Campaign, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has delivered a pretty decent Zombies experience packed with content and the OG vibes of map creativity and solid characters. Ashes of the Damned was one of the biggest Zombies maps we got at launch with Black Ops 7, and it appears that some complaints regarding its nerfed Veytharion boss fight have led to community rage in Season 1 as players struggle to defeat the first Shadowsmith.

Players have to beat the boss fight in Ashes of the Damned using Ol’ Tessie, the wonder vehicle that you drive to hit Veytharion head-on. But the fight tends to be unfair as Tessie’s HP runs out pretty quickly, and there are almost 0 heal packs in the arena now. Veytharion bombs players in different ways, spins and hits the vehicle, and to make matters worse, he can actually grab Tessie and throw her at you!

Treyarch has changed this boss fight many times since launch, making it unbeatable at first and then nerfing it to cheese prior to the Season 1 update. After downloading the new version, however, it’s quite fair to say you can not beat the Ashes of the Damned boss fight in Cursed mode without luck, super sharp driving skills, extra amounts of GobbleGums, and, well, wasting hours of your life just to die to unpredictably fast attacks.

Thanks to the YouTubers that complained, I’ll never be able to get the Wicked relics on Ashes of the Damned

Players have taken the struggle to the CoDZombies Reddit community, blaming YouTubers, streamers, and content creators who asked for the Black Ops 7 Zombies Ashes of the Damned boss to be buffed again. “I want a mode where streamers can’t use their OP gobblegums in boss fights,” as one user puts it, and that’s all true. Not everyone can use 10 Gift Cards and 5 Perkaholic GobbleGums to make surviving 60 rounds look fun.

The problem with the Ashes of the Damned boss fight in Black Ops 7 Zombies Season 1 isn’t the difficulty, but rather the fact that players don’t get any options to counter. With no heal packs, no certain guns to deal super serious damage, or a somewhat certain but hard to master way to dodge the bombs and spin attacks, the Veytharion boss fight is beyond annoying in Cursed mode.

Another layer to the unfair aspect of this update is that some players have already achieved the Tier 3 Relics in the nerfed state of the boss fight. So if you’re new to the game or didn’t get to achieve the 3 Wicked Relics in Ashes of the Damned, you need to put the ultra grind helmets on before starting each game.
