One thing that impresses me about every new HoYoverse release is how fast it manages to add QoL features and new game modes. If we think about how Genshin Impact began, while solid, it took a while for it to kick off and attract a larger audience. When Honkai: Star Rail launched, it was years ahead of Genshin in terms of quality-of-life updates and content. And now, Zenless Zone Zero is even ahead of those two, and that’s just with four major updates. Yet, while the new features and content are more than welcome, Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.3 has a small problem in the A-Rank character department.
For the unaware, Zenless Zone Zero is setting the stage for its 1.3 Version. On November 6, Proxies can expect a new storyline featuring the long-awaited Section 6, a quick trip to the Outer Ring for the Settlement Days celebration, and two Special Episodes featuring the two new S-Rank Agents, Yanagi and Lighter. On top of that, we have a rogue-like game mode coming, as well as the Simulated Battle Trial. Overall, 1.3 is looking like one of the best updates Zenless Zone Zero has released, but it isn’t looking great for those who want A-Rank Agents.
For starters, F2P Proxies tend to save all their currency for one specific character, and they create most of their team with what they get from their pulls, mainly A-Rank Agents. While the ones we have in the game are great so far, the lack of new ones is a bit worrying. Also, it is a problem that affects even the game’s big spenders. Imagine spending cash to pull for the current S-Rank and lose that 50/50 chance. Usually, the A-Ranks are a good consolation prize of sorts, but only if there are enough around.
While I’m confident HoYoverse will add more A-Rank characters in the future, it is strange to have two Zenless Zone Zero Versions, in this case, 1.2 and 1.3, without a new A-Rank character. I still remember that in Honkai: Star Rail, I lost my 50/50 during Fu Xuan’s banner but had Lynx, one of the game’s best healers. Right now, I have all my A-Ranks maxed out, and while the extra currency is certainly helpful, I’d love to see new Agents soon. Still, I’m extremely excited about everything that’s coming to Version 1.3. With all the new game modes, events, and storylines coming, I have more than enough reasons to visit New Eridu on a daily basis.
