2009’s Zombieland took zombies back to what they should be; scary monsters rather than a metaphor. And so Zombieland cuts to the heart of what fans want. And that is people fighting zombies with a dash of humor.  This was smart due to how many people love zombies. So the question of Zombieland 2 is one that fans have been asking for years. CinemaCon saw the announcement of the zombie sequel in April and nothing since.

“Umm, guys? Can we get some details please?”

And so Zombieland 2 has remained only an announcement since then. Finally, however, Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese appeared on ‘Geeking Out’ last week. Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg host the AMC late night talk show. Wernick and Reese’s appearance finally gives us a reminder that the movie is moving forward.

“That is breaking news that we’re on Zombieland 2 right now” they said, “We’re sitting with Woody [Harrelson]tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited.”

Wernick and Reese are also working on the script for Deadpool 2. So the news that they’re working on the next ZombieLand means Deadpool 2’s script is done. Zombieland 2 isn’t exactly on the horizon however since the script is still being written. Woody Harrelson being onboard is a positive sign at least. Yet this raises the question of if Harrelson is the only one returning. Harrelson is the only one mentioned by name. But “all the cast” seems like a hint about the others. Of course, Jesse Eisenburg and Emma Stone returning is still just speculation.
Still, Zombieland’s mix of dark humour is something to look forward to even if it’s a way off. To find out more, keep visiting the Nerd Stash for new info as it breaks.
