Tori Spelling’s 18-year marriage to Dean McDermott is coming to an end. The Beverly Hills, 90210 actress filed for divorce in March after separating from McDermott in June 2023. The couple, who have five children, faced many challenges, including financial trouble and McDermott’s infidelity.
Despite attempts to make their marriage work, the two go their separate ways. As Tori goes through this heartbreaking ordeal, she’s receiving comfort from her mom, Candy Spelling.
Tori Spelling’s Former Estranged Mom Candy Offers Support for Her Daughter
In times of need, people often rely on family. For Tori, her mother, Candy, has stepped up to help her daughter and grandchildren. In an interview with People, Candy discussed helping Tori through her divorce. “Well, she really needed [support],” Candy told the magazine. She said it meant “a lot” to help her daughter and that “everything’s good.”
Tori and Candy are on better terms now than they were years ago. The two became estranged in 2006 when Tori divorced her first husband, Charlie Shanian, to marry McDermott. Tensions between the family continued to rise with the death of Tori’s father, legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling. After Aaron’s death, Tori and her brother Randy only inherited $800,000 each of their father’s $600 million estate. The low inheritance reportedly fueled the drama between Tori and Candy.
The mother and daughter spoke publicly about their estrangement. Even though they weren’t speaking, they expressed their love for each other and hoped to reconcile. After fourteen years apart, Tori and Candy finally reconciled in 2020. Since then, everything’s been going well for the Spelling family.
In a 2022 interview with Jeff Lewis Live on SiriusXM, Tori shared how the reunion with her mother happened.
I hadn’t seen her since before COVID, and then Josh [Flagg from Million Dollar Listing] was like, ‘We’re going to do a family dinner at her place.’ We went and we had a great night. We’ve been together ever since.
Although Tori’s marriage to McDermott is ending, her relationship with mom Candy is stronger than ever.
