The year 2024 promises a lot, with all the upcoming anime to arrive in the spring. There are new stories and others that you may be familiar with, but these are the ones you should keep an eye out for. Many of these releases are already confirmed, and most of them are coming in April. So, if you’re a seasoned connoisseur or want to see what the new season offers, this is the place for you.
What are the best upcoming anime for 2024?
Among the confirmed anime, these are the ones that most fans are looking forward to:
10. Sand Land
This story happens in a desert world plagued by an endless drought and where the water is a luxury. So Sheriff Rao decides to investigate if there is water somewhere in his search in the style of The Lorax. In addition, Rao gets the help of Beelzebub, the prince of demons, and Thief, a wise monster and good Thief. Interestingly, the author is Akira Toriyama, mangaka recognized for his works Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball.
9. Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You
In the first two seasons, viewers experienced how Sawako went from being shy and terrorizing her classmates to being more outgoing and friendly. Unfortunately, the second season ended in 2011, and fans had waited many years until this anime’s third season was announced in 2023. The exact date is not yet known, but Kimi ni Todoke confirmed its arrival in 2024.
8. The Irregular At Magic High School
In this world, magic is nothing fantastic, but it comes from the evolution of technology and science. Here, only a few can become wizards, depending on their genetics, which creates societal inequality. Tatsuya goes to wizard school to bodyguard his sister Miyuki, who will be the next leader of an important clan of wizards in Japan. This anime had two seasons; the last one ended in 2013, but its third season will also arrive in 2024.
7. Himitsu no AiPri
Those of you who love magical girls may have heard of The Pretty Series. Himitsu no AiPri will be the next magic story after Waccha Primagi! This new part focuses on the friends Himari and Mitsuki, who enter a private academy, where both want to make even more friends despite a big secret they keep. Also, the inspiration for the main girl is from the idols, so their outfits have this style.
6. KonoSuba!
The misadventures of Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness return for a third season. This announcement was at the end of the 2023 spin-off of how Megumin became the best explosive mage and reached Axel. For this new season, the group of “adventurers” receive a letter to meet the princess, and who knows what kind of trouble they end up in.
5. Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf
This anime had its first adaptation with two seasons between 2008 and 2009. But in 2022, for its 15th anniversary, the study confirmed a new adaptation. From here, the TV series Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf will be released, in which the main characters will have the same voices in Japanese. Spice and Wolf is one of the best anime series, and you can’t miss any of its versions.
4. Demon Slayer
Just last year, Tanjiro and Nezuko helped save the village of the blacksmiths and the artisans who make the Nichirin Swords. But to continue their journey, Tanjiro must first prepare himself to be a match for Muzan and his most powerful demons. This season covers the Hashira Training Arc, in which we will see the colorful cast of characters almost in full again.
3. Black Butler
This new season takes place after the Book of Circus from 2014. Ciel and Sebastian return with a new assignment from the queen to find out why the children of the nobles won’t return from school. Ciel joins Weston College as a student and his faithful butler as a college worker to get to the bottom of the mystery.
2. Mushoku Tensei
After Rudeus discovers that he was in the same school with Sylphiette, they decide to leave and get married. This new season covers the Greyrat Sisters Arc, where Paul leaves Norn and Aisha with his brother to take care of them while their father searches for Zenith. Aisha remains as a maid with Rudeus. But Norn is afraid and resentful of Rudeus and prefers to lock herself away at Ronoa Magic University.
1. My Hero Academia
The season is after the enormous destruction caused by Shigaraki and the Paranormal Liberation Front. Also, this is after the Dark Deku arc, when other heroes discovered the secret behind the One for All. Japan’s heroes are no longer enough, so help comes from the American Heroes, including the No.1 Star and Stripe. However, Shigaraki is prepared, too, for the arrival of the foreign heroes.
Only a couple of these upcoming anime has yet to be confirmed, so you can mark your calendar to see which 2024 releases interest you the most. Whatever your favorite genre, this year will have something for you, plus these are mostly spring-season releases.
